Sleep Better Tonight: The Best Ways to Recycle a Mattress

Want to sleep like a rock tonight?  Learn how to take care of the environment by disposing of your mattress properly so it can be recycled.

Mattress Firm suggests that consumers replace mattresses every 8 years, due to all the sweat, dust mites and dead skin cells that accumulate in a mattress (gross!).

If you’re not looking to replace a mattress, just remove one, things are a bit more challenging. Many charities won’t accept donated mattresses, but we recommend giving your local Goodwill or Salvation Army a call first to find out their rules or restrictions as they can vary by location. There are also several companies who will pick up your mattress and recycle it for you for a fee.  For free estimates on a mattress removals, we recommend visiting

And if you’re really up for a challenge, No Nonsense Landlord walks readers through a step-by-step process of how to take apart a mattress and box springs and separate it all for recycling.
